Malapatan and Kiamba, Sarangani Province – March 2025 | BFAR XII through the Provincial Fishery Office of Sarangani, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Malapatan and Kiamba Sarangani Province through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist successfully conducted Hands-on Training on Fish Processing Technology for the members of Purok 10-A Women’s Association and repatriated fisherfolk. This training focused on key areas such as Food Safety, Quality Management, and Value Addition. It included informative presentations on developing fishery products, food safety protocols, and food packaging and labeling fundamentals. Additionally, value-added products such as fish embutido, siomai, and nuggets were demonstrated.

BFAR XII aimed to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills in modern fisheries post-harvest technology while promoting the production of locally relevant value-added products. This initiative equips the participants with valuable skills and opens new income opportunities. Through this initiative, we aspire to improve food productivity and sufficiency within the community and encourage processing fish as a sustainable livelihood option in Sarangani Province.

These activities, aligned with celebrating Women’s Month 2025, are a testament to our commitment to women’s empowerment. It honors women’s vital role and contributions, not only to themselves but also to the betterment of the community. Together, we continue to work towards a more resilient and food-secure Sarangani.
