The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is currently conducting a Training Workshop on the Development Modules for the implementation of programs Under the Fisheries Management Areas (FMA) in the country. This is the third of the series of clusters which is participated by technical personnel from FMAs 1,2,3,and 4. The activity is held at venue 88 in general Santos city from May 22 to 25, 2023.

In the opening ceremony, BFAR 12 Regional Director Usop D. Pendaliday, Jr. warmly welcomed the participants. He expressed his gratitude to the speakers and facilitators from BFAR-Central Office, National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI), the USAID-FishRight, and Rare Philippines. Pendaliday highlighted the crucial role of everybody in the workshop in equipping individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively fulfill their roles within their respective FMAs. He expressed confidence that the training workshop would be fruitful.

By promoting collaboration, sharing best practices, and providing updated FMA development modules, the training workshop aims to enhance the capacity of the FMA teams in implementing effective fisheries management strategies. This initiative represents a significant stride towards achieving sustainable fisheries practices and preserving aquatic resources in the country.

The BFAR remains committed to support and foster continuous capacity building opportunities for FMAs. It recognizes the critical roles played by everyone in fisheries management and is dedicated to ensure fisheries resource sustainability.

The BFAR Central Office Capture Fisheries Division is facilitating the activity with resource speakers from USAID- FishRight, Rare Philippines and NFRDI.
